On April 16, 2013 Ed Hightower, representing the Weightless Special Interest Group (SIG), spoke to the IEEE Communications and Vehicular Technology (IEEE-CVT) Dallas Chapter on the topic of Machineto-Machine (M2M) communications and the new Weightless standard (www.weightless.org). The meeting is held monthly in the Telecom Corridor located in Richardson on the north side of Dallas in the heart of North Texas, USA. The audience of engineers and technologists come from all over the Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) Metroplex area to learn about new and cutting edge telecom and wireless technologies. Hightower didn’t disappoint. The title of his presentation was “M2M + White Space + Weightless” and he spoke for 45 minutes about how the recently ratified Weightless standard will revolutionize M2M communications. Hightower went on to explain that the Weightless standard is a game changer in the M2M or Internet of Things (IoT) world.”
